The History of our Site in Torretta
Dieter, the center’s only resident, found the property in 1994 through an advertisement in an Italian newspaper. The land was entirely overgrown and the olive trees were choked with ivy. The house was a ruin almost completely hidden by vegetation. No one was interested in the land because it simply looked like too much work.Dieter bought the property because of the rare huge Italian Stone Pines, the olive trees and cypresses and because it simply felt right. He rebuilt the house by himself.
During the Summer Course in Amden in 2010 Dieter presented this beautiful place to Lama Ole Nydahl and thus dedicated it to Diamond Way Buddhism. On the 20th of October, 2011 Lama Ole Nydahl inaugurated the property.Here are a few pictures of that event:
